mamba social club

last weekend mamba had its 1st annual camping trip. this was a face-off: MAN vs. NATURE in a 24 hour battle for survival. here are some pictures from the experience:

here's a picture of workley and dr. sessions waiting for motorbreath to open the door so they could watch the Yankees-Red Sox game while camping.

this was one of the more stressful moments during the camping trip. it started to get cold and we weren't sure how to get heat. luckily motorbreath was able to light a match and get a fire going in the nick of time. this is hard core camping and shows off motorbreath's ability to survive with limited resources.

some say camping is most difficult after the sun goes down. not so for mamba. here's a picture of Pete playing rockband on a 36" TV. this is what camping is all about..... getting away and relaxing in the wilderness.

roughing it out ain't easy:

monday mamba

here's a quick recap of last monday's game - i tried using stats to come up with even teams and i was practically stoned to death. so the teams stay the same. not only that, the naysayers proved me wrong, at least for one game. overall, i'd say it was a pretty clean game....very few intentional fouls, few fouls called. we're finally starting to play like adults.

good news / bad news

here's the bad first. non-league game tonight. b-flo is out.

good news: hot shot returns for a single game cameo.

Concrete or Tree?????

Take a long hard look at this picture. A homeowner in Astoria simply could not stand the sight of this tree stump, so he decided to pave over it. A cement covered tree stump. Spend part of today pondering this.

There is symbolism in this image. A tree stump has been covered in concrete, no longer visible to the world, except as a shell of its former self. But look closer. The sap and bark from the tree is starting to break down the concrete. The tree is fighting back!

We, as Mamba players, should learn from this concrete covered tree stump. It was chopped down, buried, and left for dead. But it refused to die, slowly winning the war. I will think of this tree when I start season 2. I will be the tree and let the sap run through my veins.

Ask yourself this simple question: am I Concrete or am I tree?

SEASON 2

if you're like me, the off season was torture. how does a man go from weekly basketball to a month of no basketball? i feel as though my skills have suffered.

the good news is that we are less than a week away. the yearbook is almost complete. hoping to have them ready by monday.

but i've also been looking at the stats. one thing appears clear: we need to come up with new teams. the most crucial stat is rebounds....if we can find two teams that match up with rebounds, i think we'll have two very equal squads. here are the teams that best match up.

Team 1

Team 2

Workley

Lightning

Weevil

Dr. Sessions

Carlson

Motorbreath

Dutchman

B-Flo

Eagle

Stallion

we'll take a vote on monday. to me they seem fair. in the meantime, make your prediction:
