NOTE - i only took stats up until 70pts because the tape ran out before the 80pt game.

POST GAME
- it doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. The Heroes won this one with a 20 rebound advantage, making 2nd and 3rd chances for themselves on the offensive glass. That combined with more steals made up for a slightly lower FG%.

how can i summarize phil's game in the last 2 games? let's put it this way - i think i threw up a little in my mouth while watching game tape. here's a little side by side to prove my point:

these numbers have inspired me to introduce a new weekly award which I call the Step It Up, Bitch award. This week's award goes to phil.

Hot Shot Koster is hot no more. 5 for 29 is nauseating. poo-poo. here are a few new names: Not Hot Koster, Room Temperature Koster. if i have to watch this kid take another fade away from 3 point range, i'm gonna pound my face against the wall.

Nick was fierce on the glass and arguably the game's MVP. his highest boards total yet.

Patrick stepped up his rebound prowess and has a strong overall game, but his shot looked like garbage floating through the sky.

Kevin is becoming the silent game changer. he's consistently strong on the glass, dishes out assists and commits few turnovers. welcome to the double double club, cakey.

Weidman thought he was Kobe in the first two games and tried to pull off mid-air, 360 layups. the result? a disgusting 13% from the field and 6 rebounds/game. now that he's playing in more modest measures, the result has been a higher FG % (26% in the last 2 games) and a stronger presence down low.

How do i critique myself? i'll let the league leaders do the talking. they'll be up sunday morning at 11am.

Dan P. raised his career FG% to 8.1%, but if he's not out of single digits by the end of Game 5 , i'm going to throw a basketball at his head. good news is he's showing signs of more physical play, pulling down 7 boards.

Brian a.ka. b-flo ripped down an impressive 18 boards but we need to see more on the offensive side. same for Rob, who's shooting 37% in the last 2 games. that reminds me....

WHO'S HOT / WHO'S NOT

and now, the MVP poll:

by now you should have received an invite to be an author on this blog - you'll need a gmail account to post. i thought i would offer everyone a fair shot to voice their post-game impressions, especially since my commentary is going to get more brutal as the season goes on.

I think it's probably easy to grab 36 offensive rebounds when your team misses 90 shots :)
